Teaching children to pray can be accomplished with consistent application of 5 simple techniques.

1. Get caught praying. You will instill in your children a sense that prayer is reverent. Your children will see your head bowed and arms folded and will naturally do better when they pray.

2. Lost toys. I encourage my children to kneel down and say a prayer when they cannot find their lost toy. You will notice these prayers become quite fervent. Afterwords make sure your child finds the lost toy and then point out that Heavenly Father heard their prayer.

3. Repetition and rituals. Repetition is a good teacher especially when you combine that with meals, waking up and bed time. These become habit forming.

4. Teach the power of personal prayer. Accepting Jesus Christ into our lives is a very powerful experience and it comes through personal prayer. Our children can tell God anything and this is an important step.

5. Stage Fright. Do you ever feel nervous praying in public? Sometimes, just praying in front of my family makes me nervous. I try to remember though, that this is helping my children when they hear me pray.

6. Short prayer? A short prayer is better than no prayer at all. I once read a quote that I liked, “Do not say you are going to pray, just pray.” For me this means instead of saying, “Oops, I forgot my morning prayers so I better say them at noon,” stop and pray right then even if the prayer is short.

In conclusion, teaching children to pray can be fun. Using meal time, bed time, and finding toys as opportunities to get our children to pray are habit forming for children.

Washington has increased its number of wineries by 400 percent in the last decade. Connoisseurs and the average wine consumer have found a new place to get great wines.

Modern technology has made the process of making wine more sophisticated but the talent to produce great wine is all in the hands of the vintner who uses skills developed over generations of great wine makers sharing their knowledge to have some of the best wines now available at the wineries in Washington.

If you were in France and drinking wine in the regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy you would be at the same exact latitude of the wine country in Washington. With all the positive things going for wine in Washington being designated as American Viticulture Area is certainly a plus!

Taking a wine tour in the state of Washington probably isn’t something that you think of right away, but with all the great wines being produced in the vineyards of the state, all the different types of wine and all the different wineries you certainly should consider the opportunity for an off the beaten path wine tour. You will be so glad you tried it that you will return time after time.

It may be dinner time at your house and what better way to set a relaxing environment than to have a wonderful glass of wine with dinner. Perhaps you are having something that a dry white will enhance or maybe you want a full bodied red to wake up your taste buds. Either can be obtained from one of the wineries in Washington.

It’s swirling, sniffing and slurping time when you get a good glass of wine. Swirl the beautiful wine in your glass to get the full color beauty and incorporate some air into the wine. Now it’s time to sniff, what a pleasure to smell the wonderful fragrance the wine gives off. With slurping you get the air mixed with the wine to bring out the full flavor of the choice you have made. Just remember to slurp gently and quietly, it still works and doesn’t drive your guests or family mad with the noise.

If just 1% of the wine grapes of Washington are grown on the eastern side of the Cascades then you would think that it was a poor area for wine growers. In fact, it is a great area where the soil is right, the climate perfect and the growing season long to provide fully ripened, fruit flavored grapes with good acid levels and pleasing aromatics. This area will certainly become more of a draw to vintners in the time to come.

The French, Italians and Germans began planting wine grapes in the state as early at 1825 for their own use when they were settling the area. Commercial planting of wine grapes didn’t being in Washington until the 1960’s with rapid expansion of the industry occurring in the mid-70’s. Now there are new wineries opening every couple of weeks for your enjoyment.

There are a number of good quality and functional infant travel beds on the market. You want to make sure that you get the one that best suits your needs and the needs of your baby. Read our tips for making sure that you get the baby travel bed that works best for you…

1. Lighten the load. When you travel with your son or daughter you always have to bring lots of gear – so you’ll want to make sure that what you bring is as light as possible. Purchase an infant travel bed that weighs no more than 2 pounds – and in doing so it helps to keep your total weight as low as possible.

2. Packs down to a small size. If you are planning on travelling on an airplane or maybe thinking of a Caribbean cruise vacation, or even if it is just an overnite trip to grandma’s house you’ll want a bed that compacts to a small size when packed. There are beds on the market that are 12 inches in diameter (40 cm.) or less and they often come with their own carrying pack.

3. Effortless set up and put away process. When you arrive at your destination you’ll want to be able to set up the bed quickly, and without complications. And when you are ready to put the bed away you want to be able to put it back into its carry pack easily as well. The bed that you purchase should be easily set up by one person – and it shouldn’t take any longer than ten seconds or so to do it. When you want to put it away one person should be able to do it, again in 10 seconds or so.

4. Side panels that both protect your baby and allow easy access. The top item to consider when choosing your infant travel bed is making sure that you can easily and quickly get to your baby when you need to. Look for a bed that has side panels that both protect your baby while they are sleeping and at the same time the side panels can be opened with ease to allow for quick access to the baby.

5. Comfortable for baby. The bed that you purchase should be constructed of mesh side walls/panels that will be strong enough to keep the baby safe in their bed, and they provide a natural cross-flow of air so that when your baby is napping they will be comfortable.

6. Detachable padded liner – you want your baby to be comfortable. Make sure that the bed that you purchase has a detachable padded liner. It will help the baby to be comfortable and being detachable also makes it easy to clean.

7. Protect your investment. You’ll want to get many years of use from your infant travel bed – not just for your first child but for any future babies. Look for a bed that has at least a five year guarantee – even better look for one that has a warranty for a lifetime. It also matters who you buy it from. If you ever need to return the item you want to make sure that the store or the online store that you purchased it from will allow you to easily return it without questions.

You may be in the market for a great diaper bag for yourself or for a gift – and maybe you don’t want to break the bank. Your criteria for an inexpensive diaper bag may be one that… * Is built to last * Is good value for the money spent * Has lots of pockets, compartments and pouches to hold the stuff that you need when out with your son or daughter * Costs under $70

Here are five features to look for when you are in the market to get a new diaper bag.

1. Lots of storage pockets – the diaper bag that you choose should have pockets, pouches, zipper compartments so that you can pack the baby items you need. You’ll want to be able to take a set of clean clothes for your child, wetnaps for quick cleans, several diapers, soothers and rattlers and some small toys. When away from home with your child you’ll need baby milk, formula or water – and you will need to keep it cool. Make sure that the bag you select has an insulated pouch to keep a bottle cool for your baby. If you select a bag that allows you to keep everything in a well-organized spot it makes it so much easier to quickly get what you need when you need it.

2. Baby change pad. When out with your child you will inevitably have to change your baby’s diaper. If your diaper bag comes with a change pad you have the ultimate flexibility in being able to change your son or daughter’s diaper on the grass, in a changeroom, in the backseat of your car – almost anywhere.

3. Good value – since you are looking for something inexpensive, cost is a consideration. Look for one that is well made, is well priced (under $70) and provides great value for mom and dad. A good indicator is the product’s warranty. Look for one that has at least a 2 year warranty.

4. Looks great. Well, I am sure that you want an inexpensively priced bag but at the same time you want it to look good. If both you and your hubby will be using look for a bag that will look good on either a mom or a dad. When you do that even Dad will be proud to show the world what a great dad that he is. How cool is that!

5. Easy to take with you. Your bag has to be functional and at the same time you’ll want to make sure that it easy to carry especially when you also have the baby to carry. It will be helpful if the diaper bag can be carried over your shoulder, better yet if it can be slung onto your back like a back-pack, and make sure that the strap is long enough that it can be looped over the handlebars of your stroller.

When using the Gluten free diet you have to be careful and read all labels on foods. Gluten can be in foods you would not think of, like spices. The theory behind removing Gluten from an Autistic child’s diet is that when the child eats a food with Gluten it causes their body to react differently than a child without Autism.

If you are going to try the Gluten free diet with your child you have to be prepared to follow it for several months to tell if it is going to make any difference. Gluten remains in the body for a long time. Most people do not give the diet a long enough chance to work. Trying it for a week or two will not give the body enough time to remove any remaining Gluten from its system. Some people do however see improvements right away in their Autistic child.

The Gluten free diet is not a cure for Autism. It is used to help lesson the symptoms of Autism.

Dairy free diets for treating autism

If you are going to try the dairy free diet with your child you will need to make sure they are getting enough calcium. This can be done with vitamin supplements, or milk substitutes. Many types of food are including calcium.

If you choose to try a Casein (dairy) free diet with your Autistic child remember to allow enough time to see if the diet is helping. It can be helpful to keep a journal while trying the diet. Keep a record of behaviors your Autistic child has. Then you can see if the number of behaviors is dropping. If you have not removed Gluten from your child’s diet you may want to consider this if your child is not improving from the dairy free diet.

To find out if your Autistic child has a sensitivity to dairy (Casein) have them allergy tested. This will tell you if you should remove any other foods from the diet. If you want more information about Casein free diets visit your local library. You can find many books that deal with dairy free living. The internet is also a great source of information.

If you are looking for a very striking effect to go with your Halloween costume this year, something that will make you stand out in the crowd, consider wearing Halloween theme contact lenses. Your appearance will have an amazing effect. Some people will not be able to take their eyes off your fascinating new look. One glance from you will have some people recoil in fright at your unexpected eyes. Whatever their reactions, you will be the center of everyone’s attention.

Until recently most of us have not been able to afford or obtain designer contact lenses with these amazing transformational powers. Now we can.

The idea is to change not just the color of the iris of your eyes, but also the shape of your pupil. The center is kept clear so you can still see, but the rest of the contact lens has become like an artist’s canvas, open to any imaginative design desired. This year you will have an astonishing range of contact lenses to choose from.

There are two main types of designer contact lenses. The lowest cost, most common and easiest to use are small round discs that sit over the center of your eyes. You can still see through a clear center in almost all cases – one exception is an opaque lens you could wear over one eye to look blind in that eye. All the area around that clear center is available to designers to create all manner of colors and effects.

The second main type of contact lens is the sclero lens, that fits over the whole eye. With these lenses you can change the color and appearance of even the whites of your eyes. Eyes that are red or green all over, for example, can be a very scary and unnatural look, and perhaps exactly what you need for your Halloween party look this year.

Unexpected or unnatural color choices are favorites. For Halloween a red eye fits the theme closely. Plain opaque black or icy white eyes can send a chill down the spine of those you meet. There is a vast range of fun colors available now to give you a unique and distinctive appearance. Designers have had a ball coming up with imaginative shapes and patterns. Logos, sports team themes, flags and patriotic themes like stars and stripes, smiley faces, hypnotic spirals, spider webs, computer chips and all manner of fun ideas have found their way onto contact lenses. Imagine your pupil in the shape of a star or a square instead of round.

According to HalloweenBoo.com costume contact lenses are usually made plano, or ready and safe to be used by anybody whatever their eyesight. If you need prescription lenses, you can usually arrange for this to be done especially for you, but you should expect that there may be additional costs. If you are only wearing them for a few hours at a Halloween party it may not be worth the trouble unless your eyes need a lot of correction for you to see well enough.

Some contact lenses come as soft disposables, and some of these offer cosmetic color changes. However the kind of high visual impact costume contact lenses you will be looking for as part of a Halloween costume are more likely to be hard lenses, which give more scope for designers to add their variations. There are even expensive unique hand painted special effects designer lenses available. Hard contact lenses have a longer lifetime than disposables, at least a year if cared for properly as your optometrist will advise.

In this early ages child safety is your main concern not your child cry. When we visit the toy store with our children the major problem we face is how to equate between letting our children choose for themselves to build their personality and what is really safe for them.

Child tend to choose cartoon characters like Mickey mouse or spider man as they communicate with them emotionally due to the joy and happiness they experience while watching them. In a child mind, he needs to keep these moments forever by getting these toys to always remind him that he is a happy little fellow.

Keeping your child a happy fellow is really a rewarding experience for any mom. The question that always hunts moms is how to preserve this happy face for ever. Homeschooling used to consist of four or five children sitting around a table scribbling away in a pile of workbooks, while a stern parent stood over them and lectured. With the help of innovative teachers like Charlotte Mason, homeschooling has come a long way. Today, there are many different methods of homeschooling. The Charlotte Mason method has become quite popular with homeschooling parents today. If you’re thinking about homeschooling, you should definitely consider the different practices out there and see which will suit your children and family best. In this article, I will introduce you to Charlotte Mason method of homeschooling.

Charlotte Mason was a passionate and innovative homeschooling mother who founded the homeschooling movement in the early 1900’s (1842-1923). She invested her life in the pursuit of improving the quality of children’s education. Her enthusiasm and commitment to homeschooling led her to lay the foundations for an effective, complete and adaptable homeschooling program that provided children with a comprehensive education while keeping it interesting. The Charlotte Mason method focuses on core subjects and places an emphasis on literature, classical music, and fine arts. Many homeschooling parents today are using her approach to teach their kids.

Mason incorporates what she called ‘Living Books’ into the program, in place of dry factual textbooks often found in public schools. ‘Living Books’ are held in high value for Mason. Living books should be written by persons with passion for a particular subject. Also, the books should be written in conversational or narrative style. Books must be ‘alive’ and engaging in order to inspire a similar enthusiasm in the child. Mason shuns ‘twaddle,’ which are books or information that are dumbed down for children, insulting their intelligence and squashing their enthusiasm.

When it comes to reading, Mason believes that children must not only read a wide variety of literature but also learn to narrate what they have read in their own words. Children may narrate orally, in written form or even express the ideas they have read through art projects or drawings. This type of post reading narration ensures comprehension and digestion of the large amounts of information children are exposed to. Mason states that younger children may begin with drawings and oral narration but by the age of ten children should be able to incorporate some written narration into the program.

Mason advocates the use of ‘Nature Diaries.’ After a short and interesting lesson, the child is asked to observe Nature and draw what they perceive. This helps students develop a sense of respect for the environment. Regular nature study also paves the way for meaningful science instruction. Children should be encouraged to spend a significant amount of time outdoors so they can develop a relationship with nature and a love for it. If you ask your children to start a nature diary, let them know that the diary can include prose, pictures and poetry.

Mason held strongly to her belief that the development of good character and behavior was essential to the complete development of a child’s personality. Children must learn how to govern and discipline themselves. Mason encouraged parents and teachers to instill good habit such as respect, punctuality, cleanliness and patience in their children. Children should spend four to six weeks working on a new trait or skill until it becomes a habit. These are the cornerstones of the Charlotte Mason method. Homeschooling parents can find many ways to incorporate these practices into their homeschooling routines.
